In the past 50 years, Sydney has become a very hot tourist destination not just for people from other English-speaking countries like the United States, Great Britain, or Canada, but for travelers from all around the globe, particularly Asia. One of the highlights that Sydney has to offer is the incredibly diverse number of artistic experiences. For those with a love of opera, and those for whom opera is something new, Sydney has something surprising in store. Opera has a New Home in Sydney!!
This season, by far the must-see opera performance in Sydney is Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour: La Traviata. This is the most elaborate production of Giuseppe Verdi in perhaps the entire history of the work. Costing almost $12 million to produce, which is the most for any production ever by Handa Opera, this iteration of the opera comes complete with a fireworks display, a giant Swarovski crystal display and a giant chesterfield. But the most stunning aspect of the design is the floating set, which sits beautifully atop Sydney Harbour.
Starting at only $85, this opera is a must-see and should be within any family’s budget. The location is very convenient to the other attractions in Sydney, and plenty of transportation operations exist to make sure you get there on time.
The show runs for three weeks starting March 24.
